Simple Delights took over J J's ice cream and frozen yogurt at the Laurelwood Shopping Center in San Mateo in October 2019 when the owner decided to retire. J J's had been in business for over 30 years, and we would like to earn your business for many more years to come.
At Simple Delights, we would like to continue the tradition of a small, local business. Our goal is to provide simple but quality treats, and to serve everyone with a smile and respect. In addition to our ice cream and frozen yogurt menu items, we have expanded our menu to include fresh, homemade desserts and organic coffee drinks. Most of our ice cream flavors are from Double Rainbow. The company was founded in 1976 in San Francisco by two childhood friends, and it has remained a family-owned and operated business for over 40 years. All of their ice creams are certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union.
From time to time, we serve some flavors from another company or our own home-made as well. No matter where the source is you will find our ice cream simply delightful.
We couldn’t limit our frozen yogurt to just one source, but rather, we hand-picked the very best flavors from two different companies:
Both companies produce smooth and creamy tasting frozen yogurt flavors by using premium quality ingredients and with masterful blending techniques gained from many years of experiences. Both brands’ yogurts are carefully crafted to contain beneficial probiotic Live and Active Yogurt Cultures. They contain 10 times the National Yogurt Association’s requirement to feature the Live and Active Cultures seal. Both yogurts are also OU-D Kosher certified.
Jessica Milanes grew up in Foster City with a passion for food and cooking ever since she was young. She attended San Mateo High School, and then Cal Poly Pomona where she received a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. In 2018, she completed the Baking and Pastry Program at the San Francisco Cooking School.
Since graduating, she has worked on a gluten-free baking cookbook, gained work experience as an assistant food stylist, and has been making cakes and desserts for her customers’ celebrations. Visit her Instagram @jessbakedgoods to see some of her creations and place your custom order!
Andytown Coffee Roasters was founded in 2014 by baristas Michael McCrory and Lauren Crabbe to bring specialty coffee roasting to the Outer Sunset in San Francisco.
They wanted Andytown to feel like your grandmother's kitchen—clean, cozy, welcoming, and warm. When they started, they did all their roasting, baking, and customer service in a 600 square foot space. They now have three locations in the Outer Sunset and one location downtown.
They believe in investing in their neighborhood, creating good jobs, and using their economic impact for good. Andytown is built on a foundation of quality, approachability, and transparency. They are constantly working to improve themselves, their product, and the world in which we live.
